Well, the results are in for the youZingit Product Improvement Contest.  With hundreds of entries submitted, One Winner, three Runners-Up and five Honorable Mentions were selected. The Winner won $250 and the three Runners-Up won $25 each.  Not a bad way to get paid for ideas.

The premise of the contest was simple.  Pick any product and tell us how you would change it to make it better.  Entries could include graphics, photos, diagrams or video to illustrate how the product would be changed.  The great success of this contest illustrates how valuable the online creative community can be when it comes to Co-Creating value with company brands.  youZingit aims to  make this a big part of of its upcoming website platform, allowing users to respond to idea requests and sell ideas to companies.

Sharpen Your Mind & Get Paid for Ideas

There has been a growing consensus that internet use has been "dumbing down" our youth by limiting their cognitive and creative thinking skills.  This has been documented in the last couple of years on a CNBC segment named "Crackberry'd: The Truth About Information Overload", which was based upon the similarly titled book by Kevin Michaluk.  The CNBC segment details how internet use can actually stimulate your brain and improve hand-eye coordination, but because of the sheer volume of information we try to digest and the resulting multi-tasking required, people are susceptible to memory loss and shrinkage of the brain. Connecting this with an interesting article by Mark W. Schaefer about the evolution of social media  and how marketers are competing for customers who have less time and attention due to information overload, we start to see a dismal and pessimistic outlook for future of internet use and its negative affect on people.  What does this have to do with youZingit and people who like to get paid for ideas?  I am glad you asked!

The article referenced above describes how internet use went from thought provoking and intellectually stimulating blogs, to numbered lists, to infographics, to photos (i.e. Pinterest) and in the future a possible Mondrian inspired abstraction which requires less effort to digest.  This is very a plausible and likely scenario and the reason why we must devise a way for companies to market to customers while engaging them intellectually at the same time.  This is the genesis of youZingit and how we aim to bring customers and companies together in a way that is mutually beneficial.  Companies will take advantage of the power and reach of the internet to tap into the creative minds of people from all corners of the globe, while identifying consumer trends and promoting their brand with a social "buzz" about their products and services.  youZingit users will get the chance to use the internet to exercise their minds, improve cognitive skills, showcase their talents and most importantly get paid for ideas they have bouncing around in their heads.  This symbiotic relationship will also improve products and services for everyone, making them more relevant and useful.

Check back into our blog often, as we will offer useful information on how you can get paid for ideas and enrich your creative mind.  Our full website is almost complete, but in the meantime visit the youZingit Facebook Page for more information, to give feedback and to enter some fun contests.
